Watch Photography

A watch photographer’s job is by far the most difficult in product photography.

Lighting alone is radically different to any other photographic discipline.

Watches are by nature shiny. Looking closer – from an scientific point of view – it is actually highly reflective. That means your watch will reflect all of its surroundings including whatever light sources are shining on it. This lighting challenge requires a very specific skill set employing ‘gradient’ lighting, sparkle lighting, and more. The camera work too is difficult! Very often a piece will be photographed in extreme close-up or ‘macro’. My technique guarantees a tack-sharp photo from front to back…
