Jewellery photographers face many challenges. Jewellery is shiny by nature. Looking closer – from an scientific point of view – it is actually highly reflective. That means your piece of jewellery will reflect all of its surroundings including whatever light sources are shining on it. This lighting challenge for the photographer requires a very specific skill set employing ‘gradient’ lighting, highlight placement, sparkle lighting, and more. The camera work too is difficult! Very often a piece will be photographed in extreme close-up or ‘macro’. Studs and rings for example can photograph blurry or with very little focus. My technique guarantees a tack-sharp photo from front to back…
I provide the following jewellery photography services from my studio in Gorey, Ireland.
